Local Ontario Health Team Hosts Appreciation Day for Unpaid Caregivers

Hills of Headwaters Collaborative Ontario Health Team aims to provide much-needed recognition, respite and resources to unpaid caregivers in Dufferin/Caledon

ORANGEVILLE, June 20, 2023 – Hills of Headwaters Collaborative Ontario Health Team’s (HOHC OHT) Caregivers in the Hills Program will host an appreciation day for unpaid caregivers in Dufferin/Caledon on June 25, 2023. The event will celebrate unpaid caregivers who provide mental, physical or emotional support to a family member, friend or neighbour.

More than 8.1 million Canadians over the age of 15 are unpaid caregivers, according to Statistics Canada. This is a figure that is only estimated to grow. HOHC OHT hopes this event will provide much-needed recognition, respite and resources to those who dedicate themselves to the care of others in our community. The event will feature music, local vendors, lunch and refreshments, speakers, workshops, and more.

Caregivers in the Hills is a free program for caregivers in Dufferin/Caledon run by HOHC OHT. The program aims to provide support, validate and recognize the role of an unpaid caregiver as they assist in the care of their loved one(s). To register for the event and learn more about the program, visit www.caregiversinthehills.ca

Media are invited to cover the event and interview HOHC OHT spokespeople, local caregivers and event participants.
